Orthodox Christianity in the United States: A challenge for the study of American religion

Arguably one of the oldest forms Christianity, with a global population more than 260 million adherents, Orthodox Christianity is major religious system, networks believers on almost every continent. However, within study American religion, as well most social sciences and humanities (not including theology), Orthodoxy has received minimal research interest.
